community input-gathering at Vashon's Saturday market

Vashon Island's GreenMap team—a branch project of Vashon's Social Ecology Education and Demonstration School (SEEDS)—launched their public input-seeking phase at this week's Saturday Farmers Market, August 23 2008. Visitors are greeted with a display and notebook detailing what a Greenmap is, and are invited to contribute their ideas to two different maps: "Celebrate What We've Got," and "Envision a Greener Vashon." The suggestions gathered here and in other community-outreach avenues will be incorporated into a comprehensive first-draft Greenmap of Vashon, to be released and celebrated in mid-2009. Bob Spivey, Annie Brulé, Deborah Perpetua, and Joe Taskey were on hand to engage visitors in conversation about Greenmapping and community empowerment.

Green Map Gathering in Jakarta (2008)

Jakarta mapmakers are willing to make the new Green Map of Jakarta. This Saturday (07/12), we had a little gathering in Marco's house to explore the ideas; how to manage the process of green mapmaking in Jakarta. We've got the idea to make the Jakarta Green Map as a collaborative project among some cultural and environmental organization in Jakarta. The team will start the process soon, after this meeting. Some students from Semarang (Central Java) and Surabaya (East Java) joined the meeting as well.

Please.. Do not looking forward to the newest Green Map of Jakarta or just waiting for it. Join us to make and develop it together.
