Mapping Smoking to reduce impacts

This is such a good idea! Icons and story by Don’t Drop it, Taiwan (Chinese below)
We Are the Don’t Drop it_Team Taiwan – Small Actions, Big Impact

We are the Don’t Drop it_Team Taiwan, a group of children in Taiwan who have been working on cigarette butt issues and environmental protection since elementary school.

After discovering Green Map, a global platform for community mapping, we were inspired to bring our mission to the world and help more people take part in creating cleaner, healthier spaces.

To support this, we designed four new Green Map icons (illustrated by Pan) focused on cigarette butt awareness. These icons aim to:

  • Help smokers easily find legal smoking areas and reduce littering
  • Help non-smokers avoid smoking zones and reduce second-hand smoke exposure
  • Help local governments identify cigarette litter hotspots for better planning and action

These clear and easy-to-recognize icons can help more people understand how cigarette butts affect both the environment and our health—and show where smoking is or isn't appropriate.

We’ve also started the Don’t Drop it Alliance, hoping to connect with people and groups from different cities and countries. Our goal is to highlight small but harmful habits and pollution problems in everyday life.

🌿 You're welcome to use our cigarette butt icons when creating your own Green Map—join our mission here.

  • 協助吸菸者找到合法吸菸區,減少隨地丟棄;
  • 幫助非吸菸者避開吸菸區,降低二手菸暴露;
