We are RHYZE, Edinburgh’s non-profit mushroom farm and community education project, est. 2020. We take our cue from mushrooms, the fruit of vast unseen networks which connect and nourish all life by threading everything together: mycelium. Combining DIY cultivation with community-centred justice work like shared meals, workshops, campaigning and organising, RHYZE Mushrooms’ work will be rooted in mycelial values: community, collaboration and mutual aid. We are committed to anti-capitalism, food justice and radical mycology. We believe that it is cooperation, rather than competition, that is vital to our survival and right to live well together. The name Rhyze takes inspiration from the word mycorrhizal, a term used to describe the rich symbiotic relationship between plant roots and fungal mycelium that permeates our soils.
