Through our Rising Together training programmes our participants gain the knowledge, skills, and disciplines needed to succeed in paid employment, while also making sure they feel supported, empowered, and included.

Southill Hub aims to provide an open and safe space for the community of Southill to develop educational, recreational and social opportunities in a healthy environment. Our Social Enterprise consists of a community café with catering offered across the city, meeting rooms and event hire including a full-sized sports hall, and rented office space for other community organisations working in the area. The income we generate allows us to facilitate regular community events throughout the year, weekly community bingo and support our active youth programme.

Grand Central Terminal, a historic transportation hub and architectural marvel, faces unique waste management challenges due to its 750,000 daily commuters and visitors. The constant flow of travelers, numerous food vendors, and retail establishments creates significant waste streams that often overwhelm existing disposal systems. While the terminal maintains a relatively clean appearance thanks to dedicated maintenance staff, behind-the-scenes waste sorting and recycling efforts struggle to keep pace with volume. Our mapping reveals hotspots near food courts and main concourses where improved bin placement, clearer signage, and strategic waste collection points could dramatically improve recycling rates and reduce contamination. Grand Central represents a perfect opportunity to demonstrate how efficient waste management systems can function effectively even in high-traffic urban environments.

The UVic Coastal Climate Solutions Leaders (CCSL) program offers an immersive learning experience for graduate students seeking to advance climate solutions. Bridging across the sciences, engineering, social sciences, business, and law, this program delivers enriched interdisciplinary and inter-sectoral training to prepare the next generation of leaders with the knowledge, experience, and skills needed to rise to the challenge of climate change. We are always looking to partner with Vicotira organizations to deliver novel, community-engaged training opportunitites.

Located just to the north of Glasgow City Centre, on the banks of the historic Forth & Clyde Canal, the award-winning Lambhill Stables Café at the Canal is the heart of Lambhill Stables, & is run almost entirely by a team of loyal & dedicated volunteers. They focus on providing simple yet healthy food at accessible prices & they use fruit & vegetables from their extensive community garden, whenever possible.

Located just a short trip to the North of Glasgow City Centre, The Courtyard Pantry & Café is a membership shop & café providing access to good quality food at a low cost for the Glasgow community.

There are plants, vegetables that are grown by students from the New York Harbor School high This teaches students how to grow food and they are good life lessons. Life lessons that are being taught is how to become more independent and how to learn how to farm, grow food by your own which is a key lessons to know in life. This relates to quality education because students get to learn more and more every day and learn more about fruits and plants. Come Check out the Farm!!!

The POP Shop's many green initiatives include a community rhubarb growing project, hosting growing workshops in collaboration with Grow Food Grow Dunoon, and a garden area growing flavour-giving plants for its local soft drink start-up business.

Situated in Milngavie just outside of Glasgow city, Gavin's Mill is a social enterprise (supporting Gavin's Mill Community Project) offering a Fairtrade & zero-waste shop, as well as a vegetarian café with vegan & gluten-free options (for more on the café, please go to the separate listing here on Glasgow Green Map - link below!) completely run by volunteers, & a series of events (everything from live music to art-making). Outdoor covered terraces to enjoy a light lunch or delicious baking.
