SDG 13 - Climate Action

Climate Paradigm Collaborative is an Interdisciplinary organization specializing in embedding regenerative principles into modern organizations. CPC engages in this work through small group facilitation, climate coaching, game design, event planning, and modernizing the way organizations approach social & environmental impact. 

We are trying to show a better alternative for gas powered vehicles on Governors Island.  

Bringing awareness to construction on governors island and how it distracts students and adds unesscesary pollution to the island.

Pier 101 is open to the public and its calming. Its a beautiful place to see the water and it draws people to governors island. 

People can make art that draws attention to climate issues, and people can come together and discuss solutions.

Picnic Point provides seating areas, nice views, and rentable grills for visitor use. Its away from Island construction and loud noises making it a nice point to stop, eat, rest, and take in the views.

Car-Free?

I want to show that resources like the earth matter farm could help reduce climate change.

The Lavender Field helps the environment by encureging pollenators and raising awareness in gardens.

How does the collective retreats impact governors island as a whole? I think that in the long term continuous construction on that area could increase emissions on the island. Already right now they announced updates for the area, adding more construction to the surrounding area. Probably making this section of the island louder and more polluted than it needs to be. 

A good alternative to gas-powered vehicles is biking.

Governors Island has a mix of commercial and educational activities. Governors Island offers endless opportunities for teachers to Engage Students.  Will it be climate or development? Governors Island can co-exist with academic activities and expansion. The growing pains of climate and expansion will be brutal but swift.

Ecole qui participe aux classes d'eau et a participé au projet Mon école hydro citoyenne. Les élèves ont mis en place deux projets en faveur de l'eau #agirpourleau. 1. Préserver l'eau de la pollution en installant des poubelles de tris et en sensibilisant la communauté scolaire. Une animation réalisée par les élèves peut être visionnée ici :  Actualités | Classes d'eau  . 2. Favoriser le stockage d'eau dans les végétaux (évapotranspiration) et l'infiltration de l'eau dans le sol, en demandant au PO de prendre soin d'un petit bout de jardin et en installant des bacs de culture dans leur cours bétonnée (création d'ilots de fraicheur).

Ecole qui participe aux Classes d'eau et a participé au projet Mon école Hydro-citoyenne. les élèves ont choisi de privilégier la biodiversité aquatique en créant une mare. Ils attendent le feu vert, pour creuser! Le Contrat Rivière Vesdre les accompagne également dans ce beau projet.
