The Levenmouth Whale Project is a community-led development with global ambitions. Big Art, Engineering and Green Tourism combine to create a unique attraction which will draw local, national and international visitors.

The Lekwungen's would winter in this area as they were very fond of herring, and there were plenty to be had. This area was also used to dry the fish.

The UVic Map Shop is a community-campus initiative dedicated to collaborative place-based learning and mapping. Operated by the Department of Geography, the Map Shop's mission is to facilitate processes for community engagement, student learning, globally-relevant research, and sustainable community planning through participatory community mapping. This is achieved through engaging students, community members, Indigenous partners, and other participants both locally and globally in classroom-based and field-based courses, workshops, map-making, internship opportunities, scholarly research, publications, summits, and conference participation.

CIFAL Victoria delivers training activities and research that build on UVic's commitments to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP). It connects the region with the global community and supports international knowledge-sharing and partnerships, with a focus on four key themes:

 Our community mapping students gathered at World Environment Day in June 2022 to display maps and ask for ideas and stories about connectivity in the Capital Region. We discussed pollinator corridors, food security, ecological connectivity and ways in which to improve these within the region. Residents contributed stories and sites that we recorded on maps.

On November 21st the Centre in partnership with the University of Victoria Geography program ran a community mapping event at the aquarium. This is the map created by visitors to the centre.

The Wildlife Garden is one of several green spaces on the University of Glasgow Gilmorehill campus. The garden is home to frogs, squirrels, a wide variety of birds and insects, and the occasional hedgehog. This peaceful spot also features artwork by local artists Louise McVey and Agnes Jones.

A walk along the banks of the River Kelvin that winds through Glasgow (9.8km, from the city all the way to Milngavie!) is a beautiful experience at any time of the year. Today, it's taken for granted that the Kelvin is thriving & healthy, a Glasgow City link to nature. Yet, it is only in recent years that the river's clean-up has supported its being such a rich natural habitat & thread of calm, right in the middle of the city.

A wonderful completely-gluten-free bakery with a continually-changing range of sweet & savoury items - including lots of vegan options, as well!

Located in the former tennis pavilion in Newlands Park, Dandelion Café is a popular & friendly local café (vegetarian with vegan options!) in the Southside of Glasgow, serving breakfast, brunch, lunch, coffee, & cakes.

Coffee roasters & café in Glasgow's City Centre, on Gordon Street right outside the Glasgow Central Station. A great locally-run option when arriving to or departing from Glasgow via train!

At the heart of Glasgow City Centre since 2007, Stereo's iconic presence in the city centre is not just about their great events, but their superb food & drink, all of which is all completely vegan, free from all animal products.

Dear Green (a reference to Glasgow, which is often referred to as the 'Dear Green Place' ['glas' means 'green' / 'grey-green' in Scottish Gaelic]) is a local coffee roasters who roast specialty coffee with passion, ethics, & good vibes at the centre of all they do.

Adjacent to the first roasting site of local roastery Dear Green (a reference to Glasgow, which is often referred to as the 'Dear Green Place' ['glas' means 'green' / 'grey-green' in Scottish Gaelic]), PROJECT serves coffees from Dear Green, who roast specialty coffee with passion, ethics, & good vibes at the centre of all they do.

Charity shop whose proceeds benefit the Oxfam organisation, offering a wide variety of secondhand books. From fiction to non-fiction to vintage books, Oxfam bookshops are famous for their amazing finds!

Situated in Milngavie just outside of Glasgow city, Gavin's Mill is a social enterprise (supporting Gavin's Mill Community Project) offering a Fairtrade & zero-waste shop, as well as a vegetarian café with vegan & gluten-free options (for more on the café, please go to the separate listing here on Glasgow Green Map - link below!) completely run by volunteers, & a series of events (everything from live music to art-making). Outdoor covered terraces to enjoy a light lunch or delicious baking.

The Forth & Clyde Canal that crosses central Scotland includes the Glasgow Canal which stretches across the city, & the Forth & Clyde Spur Towpath is 7.7-kilometers of green-space just a short walk (or wheelchair-roll!) to the North of Glasgow's City Centre.

A social enterprise, registered charity, Fair Trade retailer, & educator - "trading fairly in Renfrewshire since 2002." The Rainbow Turtle's Paisley shop (staffed almost exclusively by a dedicated team of volunteers) offers a wide variety of fairly-traded food & drinks, along with an extensive range of ecological household products. Many of these are available to be refilled, thereby reducing waste packaging. They also stock a great range of fairly traded gifts & crafts from around the world, including cards, stationery, jewellery, & fashion accessories, clothing for adults & children, cookware, kitchenware, toys - &, last but not least, pocket-money items for children.

Cùrlach ('curly'!) is a non-toxic, 'green' hair salon, with a focus on sustainability & an inclusive approach, located on Glasgow's South Side.

Located on Glasgow's Southside near Strathbungo Cross, Bawn is an 'Ethical Textile Atelier', offering textiles by the metre (or 1/2 metre!), haberdashery goods & supplies (including clothing patterns with a contemporary emphasis), books on sewing / textiles / fibre art, fabric remnants (avoiding waste that's common in the textiles industry), & in-shop events.
