The Play Park at West Bay is the only dedicated play park in Dunoon and Kirn. It was upgraded over a decade ago following a community fundraising campaign. It serves the local community all year round and is a key facility for visitors with young children. Split into two enclosed sections and surrounded by green space with low biodiversity or recreation value, the play park needs ongoing maintenance and development. Equipment needs upgraded to include a wider variety of accessible play options and to offer play opportunities for young people.

Castle Hill and the surrounding green space is an historic landscape containing many monuments and architectural features that collectively tell the story of Dunoon from the building of the original Castle  right through to the American Years.

West Bay is 1000 meters of walkable promenade along a natural shingle beach looking south onto the Firth of Clyde. West Bay hosts hotels, houses, cafes, a miniature golf course, the University of Highlands and Island’s Dunoon campus, a pavilion building with public toilets, green spaces and a very well used play park.  It is also located within Dunoon's Conservation area.

Governors Island is a migration zone for many different species of birds. This promotes environmental education, increases biodiversity, and helps the ecosystem regulate itself.

Since this place is beautiful with scenic views, tourism is at a high. This is a great way to have people connect this the water, which will most likely make them inclined to keep it clean and safe. My advice to leave no trace is to always throw out any trash you may have, but also throw it out even if it's not yours. Don't be a bystander, be an upstander!

This place is incredibly green and eco friendly for example there are a lot of local trash cans so that there is less garbage on the island. This spot has a lot of space for everyone. It is a relaxing and beautiful area where it can be anything like, play, picnic, and meditating. The area is part of an SDG, #15 life on land, as you can see birds and insects. It is an important area as it is vulnerable because the area is surrounded by greens. The area in Colonels Row is the main area as everyone mostly visits and hosts events there.

This tall grassy hill with trees at the top is located southern end of island. At the top, there are about 3 red yard chairs facing the Manhattan buildings. It's a good site to see the skyline. This place is good for birds and people because of the connection to nature and the healthy exposure to sun. This place also supports the SDG number 15, life on land goals because of the habitat for birds and connection to nature.

This is a peaceful and calming place with scenic views of the harbor, surrounded by lots of plants, trees, and grass; making you feel zen and at peace. This grove is a diverse place with many different types of plants, trees, insects, flowers and birds. There are also four hammocks so you are able to lay down peacefully, either in the sun or the shade of the trees. With all of the fresh oxygen being created by the plants reducing the harmful gasses that are in the environment.  When you are at the hammock grove, there are no trash cans or nearby or vestibules selling any food close. This was done, to reduce the amount of rats/insects that would come to eat the trash. But people still eat there regardless, and the trash is just left on the ground causing two things, one the rats and insects will find it and start returning to the area and 2 the trash can decompose into the ground which adds greenhouse gasses into the atmosphere.

This gem of an island is our country place in the city! With vast lawns for your picnic pleasure, it has great views & the island is wonderfully car free, to boot. Governors island is open year round, so dress for the weather and enjoy! With an academic climate center in the future, there are already terrific programs that connect community, food and climate action, including Earth Matter. the Billion Oysters, Swale, the Circular Manufactory, GrowNYC and more.  There is an official Picnic Point on the south end of the island, but there are many great spots for a picnic.  There are places to buy food on the island too.
