Greenhouse

From hoop houses to more permanent climate controlled structures, food production greenhouses can extend the growing season. This may include sustainably raised domesticated animals such as chickens and rabbits, etc. with consideration to animal protection, careful waste treatment, proximity to where the produce will be consumed, etc.

Natembea is a cooperative farm project located on a 97-acre expanse of pasture, woods, and wetlands at the edge of Port Townsend, Washington. The farm was purchased by Devon and David Pablo Cohn in 2016 with the mission of preserving the land for community benefit while honoring its history as a family farm. Natembea practices sustainable agriculture, relying on interlocking resources and minimizing off-farm inputs, with no pesticides or synthetic fertilizers applied. The farm is significant for its agricultural importance and is part of efforts to protect working farmland in the region.

On the corner of Hastings and Sheridan, this garden has been growing food and friendship since 2007.  As a Community garden first, the produce coming out of this garden goes to those in the "community" who till and tend the garden. A row has been dedicated to the Food Bank and that produce goes directly into the Food Bank.

Grow Food Grow Dunoon is a project of Dunoon Community Development Trust. They are a group of people who came together because they wanted to grow their own food, not in a private allotment or garden, but as a team. The project runs courses in seed propagation, planting, composting and harvesting. They are also planning courses on natural bee-keeping, food preserving, tree planting and more.

Bowling Green Together is a by and for BAME majority-led community organisation in Pollokshields (South Glasgow) created and formed by local residents with a vested interest in our community's health. Bowling Green Together was created in 2022 through a grassroots campaign led by local residents to keep Pollokshield's community spaces engaged, inclusive, and healthy. Bowling Green Together has been a community long before it was an organisation. Now with intentionality we are growing more resilient, healthy, and empowered together.
