6/15 Green is a community garden dedicated to a cleaner and greener neighborhood through the maintenance of a community space open for cultural, agricultural, and educational purposes, as well as providing green space for the public. Local residents are encouraged to drop off organic waste during open hours, which is composted and utilized on-site. Composting workshops are offered to community garden members and non-members alike. Other programs offered at 6/15 Green include a Children's Creative Workshop, musical performances, alternative energy education, and many others, all of which are listed on their calendar.

1085 Washington Avenue is a new housing development project in The Bronx which opened on September 29th, 2009. This 90-unit, LEED certified building complex has a 1,850 square foot green roof which has solar powered birdbaths. In addition they have high-efficiency boilers, solar powered thermal heaters to pre-heat the water before it reaches the boiler, low-flow faucets and shower heads, an additional layer of insulation and dual flush toilets.

The 115th Street Branch of The New York Public Library, built with funds given to the city by Andrew Carnegie, opened in 1908. A three-floor building, its distinctive facade and enduring elegance inspired its designation as a New York City landmark building. The New York City Landmarks book describes it as "an uncommonly rugged and handsome structure designed by McKim, Mead & White in the rusticated Italian palazzo style." Old-fashioned in character, the library is furnished with lovely wooden display cases positioned along the wall on the first floor. Materials for adults and teenagers are located on the main floor. The children's room is located on the second floor. The branch has a tradition of encouraging neighborhood groups to use its location as a venue for meetings and programs. The library has evolved into a focal point of community activity and learning as well as a testing ground for new artistic productions and talent.
