This is a seasonal market and is geared toward 'grab and go' so more prepared foods and ready to eat choices. It's got the fabulous Alamo sculpture and is a convenient central meeting point (with #6 train) .

Located at the corner of Ave B and East 9th - this is a mainstay for many local eaters. Trinity Church's commitment to local food equity is powerful, with a popular lunch and a pantry for college students, this fridge and more!

This gem of an island is our country place in the city! With vast lawns for your picnic pleasure, it has great views & the island is wonderfully car free, to boot. Governors island is open year round, so dress for the weather and enjoy! With an academic climate center in the future, there are already terrific programs that connect community, food and climate action, including Earth Matter. the Billion Oysters, Swale, the Circular Manufactory, GrowNYC and more.  There is an official Picnic Point on the south end of the island, but there are many great spots for a picnic.  There are places to buy food on the island too. 

Community space on the roof! Green Roofs cool the air, absorb stormwater,  provide habitat and so much more that benefit the climate and environment. While there is no food for Humans, there is a banquet for pollinators. Bonus: from this roof, you can see others that are green! 

MoRUS, the Museum of Reclaimed Urban Space is an archive and active radical history space for housing, community garden and environmental justice advocates.

This is a terrific resource for food rescue - 20,000 meals a week from produce & ingredients were procured on their way to the compost bin. The quality & richness of the dishes served here is very high! Sustainable diet shift at all levels. 

Named for the sheep that used to graze here regularly, Central Park's Sheep Meadow is known for its great people-watching! You are more likely to see a sheepdog than a sheep these days!
