The Applecross e-bike project aims to promote active travel with more cycling within its local community. It has done this by increasing the access to bikes within the community. They also offer bike maintenance training as well as other activities to promote cycling as an alternative to taking the car. They also have a supply of e-bikes that local residents can hire on a monthly basis.

Fearn Free Food Garden is a community project with volunteers who grow fresh food for the local community to use free of charge. They also educate people on the growth of produce and hope to expand their workshops further.

The Westray Community Garden project produces organic fresh fruit and vegetables here on Westray for the local community. This was made possible through funding from LEADER. Initially launched as a two-year pilot study in 2017 under the name of ‘Food Miles to Food Smiles’, the garden project has gone from strength to strength and is now into its fifth growing season.

 The Walled Garden was built at the same time using lime mortar and the local Lewisian Gneiss, giving it its grey and blue colour. It holds fruit bushes and trees.
