Causey Development Trust works to transform West Crosscauseway from a vehicle dominated street into a safer, more attractive street for people that incorporates a new public space respecting the heritage of its surrounding buildings on the boundary of the World Heritage site. It will reduce through vehicle traffic and support people’s health and well-being, encourage more walking , cycling and wheeling and create a space for community events.

BVT (Balerno Village Trust) set up an Energy Group in 2010 that eventually formed CBS Harlaw Hydro (a micro hydro community benefit coop) in 2013, which went live in 2015 and gifts surplus funds back to the BVT every year. Clean Heat Edinburgh Forum (CHEF) is a loose unconstituted group comprising interested community members, academics and professionals working in the low carbon heat space. We believe this mix of people enables us to be mutually complementary and relatively independent. It works as an open weekly forum to share news and insights and to progress the agenda of decarbonising Edinburgh. Its current main focus is District Heating Networks. Individuals attend the meeting as and when they can/feel moved to - either in their own time or on their company's or institution’s time. CHEF organizes regular public events. While recognizing that it fits within a portfolio of strategic tools, we are currently focusing on District Heating Networks because these are little known in the UK yet the Scottish Government wishes to see a rapid expansion. People need to become better acquainted with the subject in order to properly play their part as individual householders and/or members of the community. While CHEF does not have all the answers, we do believe we provide a place where knowledge can be improved both within the forum and by working together on reaching the wider public.

Climate Ready South East Scotland is the first climate risk assessment for the Edinburgh and South East Scotland region.
