yәhaw̓ Indigenous Creatives Collective and Metamimicry are collaborating to develop the site into an intertribal meeting area and a place for growing and gathering food. Issues include: a) pollution and habitat degradation in Mapes Creek, b) urban flooding, c) stormwater and soil pollution, including lead, arsenic, cadmium, and dieldrin (in insecticide). Fish ecologist Ashley Napes and other partners are restoring the stream and salmonid habitat, while Metamimicry is installing inoculated wattles, bioswales, and a bioretention overflow area to mitigate on-site stormwater, and supporting ongoing maintenance and monitoring.
