Active Travel - developing a network of core paths to enable walking, cycling and wheeling for all.

NPF4 objectives met by these projects: Design, quality and place; Local Living and 20 minute neighbourhoods; Sustainable transport; Energy; Tackling the climate and nature crises; Infrastructure first.

Tackle health inequalities and declining footfall on shopping streets by creating a culture of cycling and walking around the town. Develop heritage and environmental interpretation that turns an everyday stroll into a source of pride and discovery.

Encourage cycling and walking by identifying distinct routes from residential areas into shopping areas and to schools. Use signage and creativity to highlight these routes, opening up opportunities for place making and creative work at a local level.

Ensure that these routes are regularly maintained and kept accessible. Support the promotion of these routes through a joined up approach to marketing, including led walks, clear signage, apps and printed maps.
