Where?

A couple of years back, these signs were added. The first is Parks' directory and oddly enough, it leaves off the two stewardship programs that manage hundreds of volunteers in park cleanups, planting and other care projects. Yes, it mentions the Fire Boat House, but instead of listing Lower East Side Ecology Center (which has been there 20 years), it says comfort station. Solar One on the north end of the park, isn't listed either, although it's got an amazing edible food forest, solar innovation, etc.

LES Ecology Center's wildlife sign is a popular reference, and every bird, butterfly and fish is welcomed by park visitors of all ages. There are hundreds of species dependent on this park and very little mitigation for their displacement.

The environment of the Lower East Side will be impacted by ESCR, the East Side Coastal Resiliency project which plans to raze and raise East River Park by 2025. This map monitors the changes, especially around air quality data and action for public health. Mapped by LES Breathe, a part of East River Park Action - find out more at eastriverparkaction.org/breathe
