The original light was housed in a round cast iron tower.
None known.
The lighthouse was located on an isolated rocky island approximately 25 kilometres east southeast of Nanhuijiao (Cape Yangtze) and 30 Kilometres west north west of Sijiao. The original Chance light was housed in a cast iron tower so it is quite likely the whole lighthouse was supplied by Chance Brothers of Smethwick near Birmingham in the Uk back in 1868 and first lit in 1869. The 1868 tower was replaced in 1900 by another cast iron tower, this being further replaced with a brick tower in 1958 which remains in use today. The only photographs I have been able to find on the internet are those of the present 1958 tower.
