Where?

Scenic Sandbank was recently successful in its funding application to the Scottish Land Fund to create a community garden. The provisional site plans include raised beds for growing fruit and vegetables, a poly tunnel and an open sided classroom.

It won’t all be built at once: the team plans to start with three or four raised beds and add to them as more people get involved. Eventually this will include raised beds for people with mobility problems or who can’t stand for long periods, and lower beds for children to work at.

There will be benches around the garden for those who want to sit and enjoy some time outdoors alone or with friends. Other plans include a meeting area/ canteen, where people can meet and chat, get a hot drink and possibly a cake or bowl of soup after time in the garden.

This map is a collaboration between Dunoon Community Development Trust and the Shaping Places for Wellbeing Programme. It features community-led growing initiatives in the Dunoon and Hunter's Quay areas that include a focus on food growing.  Some of the projects are well established and others are just getting started or are at the planning stages.
