Campbeltown Town Hall is a prominent civic building located in the heart of Campbeltown, a town on the Kintyre peninsula in Argyll and Bute, Scotland.
Built in 1760-1762 and designed by John Brown, a prominent Scottish architect, this classical-style building has served as the center of local government and community events for centuries. The structure features a distinctive clock tower, a large assembly hall, council chambers, and other municipal rooms. Its facade is adorned with Corinthian columns and decorative stonework, exemplifying grand civic architecture of the period. In October 2014, South Kintyre Development Trust acquired the building, initiating a major refurbishment program designed by Coltart Earley, completed in August 2016. This £2 million project, financed by various bodies including Historic Scotland and the Big Lottery Fund, involved converting the ground floor into commercial offices and installing a new lift to the first-floor assembly hall. The renovation allowed the assembly hall to continue serving as a community event venue while modernizing the space. The project's success was recognized with the Judges' Award in the Herald Property Awards in September 2016, highlighting its significance in preserving and adapting historical architecture for contemporary use while maintaining its long-standing role in the community.
