The River Cree’s rapid-response (“flashy”) catchment can produce flooding with little warning, limiting businesses’ ability to move stock or protect premises.

A flood-protection scheme is being designed under Solway Local Flood Risk Management Plan, specifically intended to protect the riverside business district.
