NYC has an outsized Climate Week from Sept 20-27. Among other interactions, we offer walking tours that bring participants to the places making climate inroads on the Lower East Side. This year, we'll also be sharing our new energy themed LES Power Green Map - it's our first zine-shaped map! Get copies to share at the events below.
The Metacrisis will be holding space at Caravan of Dreams, and our roundtrip tour there starts at 11 AM on Wednesday Sept 23
On Friday afternoon, Sept 25th, we are taking part in Green Thumbs' Community Gardens afternoon event in the East Village, with details to come.
Saturday, Sept 26th, we're kicking off our Climate & Culture Green Map Tour at ABC No Rio, where the construction of the new Passive House arts & activism building is nearly complete. Join director Gavin Marcus for a sneak preview, and take a walk with Wendy Brawer, director of Green Map - along the way we'll encounter the Tragic Optimist, Andrew Boyd, too. RSVP and join us.
Sunday's tour is billed at the second of two community garden tours hosted by LUNGS Board members. Ours starts at 3pm at El Sol Brilliante, and will highlight energy transition sites, or join Magali Regis's tour on Saturday at 3.
LUNGS organizes the gardens of the Lower East Side, which is also known locally as Loisaida. Together these spots of green create NYC's Garden District. LUNGS is hosting the Harvest Arts Fest at the same time as Climate Week, and this convergence promoted us to create a new map and calendar using the 'spaces' feature on the Green Map Platform.

All these events and many more in the neighborhood are being added as Climate Week draws near.
