During the year, New Yorkers are producing vegetables, herbs and fruit all over the city - yes, there could eggs, honey and more!
Much of this local produce is grown in community gardens, verdant spots of life that provide abundant social and eco benefits alongside delicious tomatoes, colorful rainbow chard and spicy peppers.
Excitingly, the 44th Annual GreenThumb Harvest Fair will take place on Saturday, September 28, 2024 from noon to 4:00 p.m. at El Jardin del Paraiso at 710 E 5th St. in Manhattan. Hosted by the GreenThumb division of NYC Parks Department, you can celebrate with hundreds of GreenThumb community gardeners with workshops, live entertainment, healthy cooking - there's even a GreenThumb Harvest Fair Competition!
And yes, there will be mapping! In fact, you can add to the data right here!

We'll be sharing what we collect with GreenThumb and with M.A.P. NYC, which is taking a deeper look into local food production, including commercial and institutional production. With 8 million people, local food addresses security and community resiliency, self-reliance and nutrition.
