Introducing custom websites to Green Mapmakers

You have made a map, created a survey, now put them together by creating a website for your project.

We know that to lead a successful Green Map project, it’s crucial to engage effectively with your audience and community. At the same time, publishing websites and managing digital content can be challenging and costly for small, community-based map projects. That’s why we have launched a set of features that allow you to create a custom Green Map website without needing to code. Using these tools, you can build your website from scratch, on a tight budget, and share your project with your community simply and effectively.

This means you can bring together all your Green Map information in one place including maps, surveys, and details about your team and project. You can also promote events and keep in touch with participants via a newsletter, all from the Green Map platform.

How does it work?

You have already made a Green Map, and perhaps created a survey for community participation.

Now you can create your website in minutes by adding a Space to your team dashboard and starting from a website template.

  1. Link your map and survey, and make it your own by adding your project details and visuals to the page.
  2. If you’d like a more personalized website, use our visual website editor to add and tweak pages according to your preferred layout and design.
  3. Publish your website on a Green Map subdomain for free (yourproject.greenmap.org), or your own domain(with a paid subscription).

And hey presto! You have built and published your own Green Map website.

Your new website is also responsive and optimized for mobile browsing, and you can update it at any time to keep track of your project's evolution.

We worked together with Dundee-based Maxwell Community Center and Garden to help them support food growing and community garden projects. Using our website builder, they now promote local food growing initiatives, along with events and volunteer opportunities.
