Our versatile mapping platform is designed for collaboration and ease of use. Quickly, you will have a great Green Map made for and with your community!
The Green Map Platform is designed for community mapmakers - it’s great for more complex projects too. The Platform enables people to work in a team to co-create, publish and distribute Green Maps digitally. It’s got great features, like import and export, add your own icons; see the list below.
Unlike other online mapping platforms, ours is built as a resource for sustainable development, with communities, collaboration, and a shared mission to address climate change, environmental and justice challenges. Mapmakers can create data-collecting Surveys and invite wider participation, too. It's built upon our experience with our first mapping platform, Open Green Map (2009-2022), and its 41,000 featured sites are imported into this new Platform.
The Platform is free, flexible, and easy to use:
-
Explore takes you directly to the maps made on the Platform. You can explore by the
map, by the
survey or by the
icon.
-
You can get started right now with our detailed
Quick Start Guide or handy
OnePager
-
Our Blog has great examples of how the Platform has transformed the process of mapmaking and made the data useful and built local capacity at the same time.
-
Resources includes the
Quick Start Guide, Green Map Icon posters, our books, and lots more about the practice of Green Mapmaking - there’s an FAQ and more.
-
If you need help, there are monthly open office hours (generally on the first Wednesday at 11 ET), please check our
