Scottish Canals is the official body that (in their own words) "look[s] after the Scottish canals, conserving them as part of our heritage, & transforming them to play a vital role in Scotland today." The offices are located on the banks of the Glasgow Canal that stretches across Glasgow City, this canal, itself, being a section of the Forth & Clyde Canal that crosses central Scotland.
With a focus on investing in its surrounds in North Glasgow, as part of the larger Glasgow & Scottish communities, Scottish Canals runs many different projects.
In their words, "North Glasgow is coming
to life in new & exciting ways. Real change is taking place around the
canal, creating a safe & enjoyable outdoor space, a positive resource
which will help to breathe new life & vitality into local
communities."
A selection of these projects includes..
- Stockingfield Bridge
- The Claypits Local Nature Reserve
