Velocity Café & Bicycle Workshop is a social enterprise based in Inverness. Velocity combines three worlds; a vegetarian café, bicycle workshop and range of projects to promote health, wellbeing and sustainability.
Since 2012, we have been working to:
- champion local, healthy and sustainable food
- increase cycling confidence and bike maintenance skills
- promote climate consciousness, repair and reuse
- support wellbeing, physical activity and social connection
Velocity is one of the eight founding partners of the Highland Community Waste Partnership which aims to reduce waste and build a movement for more sustainable consumption across the Highlands. Through a programme of collaborative grassroots activity, we are focusing on key issues such as reducing food waste; tackling single use items; and increasing the use of pre-loved, repaired and shared goods. We are doing this by raising awareness, learning and building skills through events and workshops and creating new systems and services through targeted projects. We want to help support communities to reduce their carbon footprint and contribute towards Scotland’s ambitions to create a more circular economy and become a Net Zero nation by 2025.
