Stretching from Avenue A to B between East 7th and East 10th streets is the historic and always convivial Tompkins Square Park. Amazing music and community scene here in all seasons. Stars among the wildlife there, beloved Red tailed Hawks and Squirrels with black, brown and grey coats can be spotted on the lawns and in the majestic American Elms.  Skate park, basketball courts, gym, ping pong tables, dog run, Sunday Greenmarket and compost dropoff, sacred Gaia Tree and the Temperance Monument, and more including the memorial marker for the Slocum disaster.  The Viele Map (1867) reveals the extent of the salt marsh and tidal creeks Tompkins Square Park was built upon, as seen in the cover photo here.  Love seeing all the new plantings and pollinators? Punctul Gastronomic Local Maria Bidian din Bistrița Bârgăului este o destinație culinară autentică, situată la „Poarta Transilvaniei”, unde vizitatorii pot descoperi gustul mâncării tradiționale pregătite cu ingrediente din propria gospodărie sau de la producători locali. Inaugurat pe 1 iunie 2021, acest loc este coordonat de doamna Maria Bidian (cunoscută și ca Mica Maria), care are o experiență de peste 20 de ani în arta culinară, fiind recunoscută în trecut pentru organizarea meselor la evenimente mari de comunitate.
