Green Roof

This educational greenhouse is an active learning space in our school. It focuses on hands-on climate education. Students experience the farming process step by step. First, they research where their everyday food comes from to understand the environmental damage caused by global shipping. Next, they learn basic agriculture, build the greenhouse together, and prepare the soil.

Chestnut Commons provides affordable housing for formerly homeless and low-income households. 275 affordable housing apartments are supported by an integrated programming package, including communal spaces. The project integrates a satellite Community College campus, a food manufacturing incubator that provides job training, and a credit union.

The 85-unit, Dekalb Commons, sets twin, mid-rise buildings across from one another on Dekalb Avenue.

 Condominium project at 951 Pacific Street between Grand and Washington Avenues. The R-951 Residence consists of three duplex loft apartments, each approximately 1500 square feet complete with its own balcony and/or garden, laundry and separate cellar storage space.

Mixed use building: private residence above retail store. This Loadingdock attempt to build NYC's first new building which fulfills the strict german Passiv Haus standard.

This building is 5-unit, it is based on the german strict standard of Passiv Haus. The apartment is called Haus and it's built on a typical Brooklyn-sized 25′x100′ lot. 

It is currently the tallest Infill Passive House building in the world. The mixed use project has 55 residential apartments of which 17 are affordable as well as a commercial retail space on the ground floor.

ABC No Rio is a collectively-run center for art and activism. It was founded in 1980 by artists committed to political and social engagement

As a Passive House Institute Certified Building, Charlotte’s state-of-the art systems dramatically lower energy use and deliver the best air quality imaginable- each residence gets a change of freshly filtered and UV-sterilized air every hour.

Community space on the roof! Green Roofs cool the air, absorb stormwater,  provide habitat and so much more that benefit the climate and environment. While there is no food for Humans, there is a banquet for pollinators. Bonus: from this roof, you can see others that are green! 

CAT is an educational charity dedicated to researching and communicating positive solutions for environmental change. We speak to government and campaigners about policies that would help create a zero carbon Britain; we train students in all aspects of sustainability; we help schoolchildren to understand the importance of action on climate change; and we give advice to householders on what they can do in their own homes.

The curriculum is centered on sustainability at the Earth School. Outdoor bins in this primary school's garden for yard waste and for students' food waste. Awesome raised bed garden on the roof.
