Bowling Green Together is a by and for BAME majority-led community organisation in Pollokshields (South Glasgow) created and formed by local residents with a vested interest in our community's health. Bowling Green Together was created in 2022 through a grassroots campaign led by local residents to keep Pollokshield's community spaces engaged, inclusive, and healthy. Bowling Green Together has been a community long before it was an organisation. Now with intentionality we are growing more resilient, healthy, and empowered together.

Based in Rutherglen on the outskirts of Glasgow, we are a charity whose aims are to grow our community. We are currently developing 3 disused bowling greens into a community garden and have growing areas dotted around our community on which we have developed nectar rich planting for our Bee Line. We have adopted Rutherglen train station on which we have planters and have created a mural to welcome people to our community.

I'm not a member but I am welcome to join the weekly potluck, which is a wonderful tradition! So many people are fed by this prolific garden. It's kind to all, including many recent newcomers seeking refuge from the shelter system. I especially like the family-oriented design and policies, and have heard that school groups have plots there too. With fruit trees planted across the street and rows and rows and rows of veggies, this garden has it all!
