This group has been formed by local residents to start a campaign to lobby politicians, statutory agencies and stakeholders to develop and implement a 10 to 20 year village wide strategic flood management plan. It is run by volunteers to try to save the village from further flood damage and coastal erosion which is threatening to decimate both the local area, national infrastructure, and severely impact all those living & working to the north of Golspie.

Cannich Growing Group

We are a group of growers in Cannich who are passionate about strengthening our local food economy, encouraging people to enjoy the health benefits of growing food, and inspiring our young people to get involved. We are an informal group who meet regularly to swap stories, seeds and tips. Currently we are consulting the community on creating a community growing space in the village. We have already planted a small pocket orchard with the children in the playpark.

Nimblefingers Project was set up as a constituted group to create opportunities for adults with additional support needs to come together in a safe environment to access and gain new skills alongside their community and peers. The Project promotes creativity and imagination by utilising small pieces of furniture donated by the public which would otherwise go to landfill.

 CiRCUS ARTSPACE is a voluntary collective of art practitioners. As a community of practice we works together non-hierarchically to deliver a public programme, developing each aspect through conversation, mutual support and consensus. OUR VALUES To promote contemporary art as an integral part of culture in the Highlands; To embed an artist-led ethos in all we do; To value aspiration over previous experience; To develop a community of support, experimentation, exchange and ideas; To develop inclusive experiences which embrace diverse communities; To encourage sharing of values and collaboration between art forms. We want to embed climate justice and ecological choices within all our work and are looking for access to advice and support as we develop better environmental policies and public programmes informed by the climate crisis.

We are the Grantown Community Centre. We provide Community Services such as a food shed, uniform exchange, Soft Play , Youth clubs and a Community Cafe. We run the community cinema. And we host the SpeyShed. We provide affordable facilities to local groups such as the Guides, yoga, indoor tennis and party options. Where we can, we provide affordable start-up opportunities to local entrepreneurs.

The IoCCDT is a community-led organisation which was set up to stimulate sustainable demographic growth supported by good employment opportunities, good services, facilities and affordable housing. It provides a focus for the administration of community projects and a vehicle to manage assets on behalf of the community. We are a registered tenants organisation. Our main aim is to improve the appeal of the village and surrounding area. We also host small events for residents on topics such as recycling, food waste and improving the environment we live in. We are inclusive and encourage all our residents to participate in our events, particularly those who may be isolated, vulnerable, disabled and disadvantaged.

Morvern Community Development Company was set up in 1999 following encouragement from the Morvern Community Council to benefit the community of Morvern in Lochaber. Recent successes include the construction and commissioning of Barr Hydro through our energy subsidiary MorVolts.
