Community Group

One of the key roles of Conon Bridge Community Council is to represent the views of the community to The Highland Council and other public bodies in the area.

The Flow Country Partnership exists to bring together a community including crofters, farmers, landowners/managers, local businesses, residents, ecologists and local government to grow the resilience of the Flow Country and its people. There is a fundamental interdependence between a resilient Flow Country landscape and thriving, resilient communities.

Our objectives are to know about, promote and improve the biological diversity of Caithness; and to promote and undertake environmental projects throughout Caithness to improve public access to the countryside, enhance wildlife habitats and upgrade countryside facilities.

Drift are a collaborative group based in Stromness, bringing fun and accessible pop up events to our community. Supporting creativity, working in a sustainable and circular way, and developing shared experiences and spaces are at the core of what we do.

Moray Flying Circus aims to promote mental and physical wellbeing in children and adults, of all backgrounds and abilities, through the joy of aerial and circus. Circus connects education, physical art and social development, empowering people to engage, learn, play, connect with others, and share skills. Crossing social boundaries, circus is a transformative tool for building confidence and resilience through play and creativity.

This group has been formed by local residents to start a campaign to lobby politicians, statutory agencies and stakeholders to develop and implement a 10 to 20 year village wide strategic flood management plan. It is run by volunteers to try to save the village from further flood damage and coastal erosion which is threatening to decimate both the local area, national infrastructure, and severely impact all those living & working to the north of Golspie.

We are a group of growers in Cannich who are passionate about strengthening our local food economy, encouraging people to enjoy the health benefits of growing food, and inspiring our young people to get involved. We are an informal group who meet regularly to swap stories, seeds and tips. Currently we are consulting the community on creating a community growing space in the village. We have already planted a small pocket orchard with the children in the playpark.

The objectives of the charity are:

Nimblefingers Project was set up as a constituted group to create opportunities for adults with additional support needs to come together in a safe environment to access and gain new skills alongside their community and peers. The Project promotes creativity and imagination by utilising small pieces of furniture donated by the public which would otherwise go to landfill.

We cover the geographical area of Dunvegan Community Council in NW Skye. Our aims are deliberately broad, but climate change action can apply to any of them since it will have such an impact on the sustainability of our community. The Organisation’s main purpose is consistent with furthering the achievement of sustainable development.

The Touring Network exists to see rural touring be a central, celebrated and indispensable part of the cultural life of Scotland.

We are a member led community development trust in Lochaber, taking action to keep our community a great place to live, work and visit. We acquire assets for the community and lead initiatives to improve community resilience. We hope to take more action towards environmental sustainability in the coming years.

The Acharacle Community Company was formed to benefit the community of Acharacle and surrounding area.

Our aim are to produce food locally in our community allotment garden, to bring our community together in a shared space. To encourage participation in a healthy pass time in our local area. We want to have a vibrant community space that improves the health and wellbeing of our community. 

Crown Connects SCIO was established in 2020 as a COVID emergency response group; we are now a Scottish Charity, SC050700, regulated by the Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR). We aim to develop projects to improve life in our Hill and Crown part of Inverness, bringing people and groups together to make positive changes to where and how we live.

 CiRCUS ARTSPACE is a voluntary collective of art practitioners. As a community of practice we works together non-hierarchically to deliver a public programme, developing each aspect through conversation, mutual support and consensus. OUR VALUES To promote contemporary art as an integral part of culture in the Highlands; To embed an artist-led ethos in all we do; To value aspiration over previous experience; To develop a community of support, experimentation, exchange and ideas; To develop inclusive experiences which embrace diverse communities; To encourage sharing of values and collaboration between art forms. We want to embed climate justice and ecological choices within all our work and are looking for access to advice and support as we develop better environmental policies and public programmes informed by the climate crisis.   

We are the Grantown Community Centre. We provide Community Services such as a food shed, uniform exchange, Soft Play , Youth clubs and a Community Cafe. We run the community cinema. And we host the SpeyShed. We provide affordable facilities to local groups such as the Guides, yoga, indoor tennis and party options. Where we can, we provide affordable start-up opportunities to local entrepreneurs.

The IoCCDT is a community-led organisation which was set up to stimulate sustainable demographic growth supported by good employment opportunities, good services, facilities and affordable housing. It provides a focus for the administration of community projects and a vehicle to manage assets on behalf of the community. All Canna residents are encouraged to get involved and to share in the work of being a director.

  Lochaber Environmental Group works to preserve, conserve, and restore the environment of Lochaber for the benefit of the local communities as we transition to a low carbon economy. We help to advance the knowledge of Lochaber residents in the study of the environment and sustainability, facilitating training, and sharing advice & information. Our Objectives To help and encourage everyone in Lochaber to reduce their impact on the environment Promoting the preservation, conservation and restoration of the natural environment of Lochaber for the benefit of the community Providing information and training about the environment and about ways to live in a more sustainable manner Help and encourage everyone in Lochaber to live more sustainably. 

Caol Resident group are providing a bite and blether to the Caol community on mondays this is to tatret social isolation and help target food waste and get more community outdoor projects on the go. the aims are to make the area more environmental friendly.

We are a registered tenants organisation. Our main aim is to improve the appeal of the village and surrounding area. We also host small events for residents on topics such as recycling, food waste and improving the environment we live in. We are inclusive and encourage all our residents to participate in our events, particularly those who may be isolated, vulnerable, disabled and disadvantaged.

We are a local, voluntary association which aims to make Nether Lochaber a better place to live, work and visit. Our membership is made up of people living in the area who want to get involved in improving their community.

The Arisaig Eco Project is a small, community based environmental project and we bring people together in lots of ways raising awareness of climate change ... growing food, re-using, swapping, sharing, reducing waste, enjoying nature, walking and cycling.

Morvern Community Development Company was set up in 1999 following encouragement from the Morvern Community Council to benefit the community of Morvern in Lochaber.
