It aims to greatly increase community participation and ownership of renewable energy projects being developed across the region. We aim to reduce and ultimately eradicate fuel poverty in the Highlands by providing access to affordable renewable electricity.

Morvern Community Development Company was set up in 1999 following encouragement from the Morvern Community Council to benefit the community of Morvern in Lochaber. Recent successes include the construction and commissioning of Barr Hydro through our energy subsidiary MorVolts. 900kW community wind turbine has been generating renewable energy since 2011; the income from this is used by the Development Trust for the development of community projects on the isles of Rousay, Egilsay and Wyre.

North Yell Development Council installed 5 community wind turbines on the Island of Yell, with the profits from the energy generated being fed back into community projects.
