Energy Collective Action Initiatives (CAIs)

In this map, we list all the energy Collective Action Initiatives (CAIs) that have been involved through the COMETS project (http://www.comets-project.eu/). 
Their participation in the project was either through the National Research Teams investigating the conditions supporting or inhibiting the success of energy CAIs at the national level; or through their use as a Frontier Case, to inspire others with their experience and practices.

Bristol Energy Network (BEN) is an umbrella organization for individuals and community groups with an interest in energy in Bristol and the surrounding area. BEN’s vision is for a city “where clean, green, affordable energy is delivered to the community by the community.”

The Consorzio Elettrico di Storo is a Limited Liability Cooperative, founded in 1904 . The main sector of activity concerns the production and distribution of electricity . The cooperative company owns two power plants (Palvico '71 and Lorina) with a total of four turbine groups. In addition to these, the so-called “Photovoltaic Roof” set up above the warehouse in the industrial area in Storo began its activity at the end of 2009.

CLEF

Created in 2008 by and for citizens, the citizen cooperative CLEF brings together more than 1,600 cooperators who take an active part in the strategic energy debate.

CoWatt

CoWatt is a citizen cooperative that aims to empower local communities in the production of solar energy, making it accessible to all on a regional scale. The organization was setup by two associations (Alisée and Elise) and partners with five financial partner institutions and nine technical institutions.

Cooperative Cozéop

We support the rational and responsible production and use of energy,

Croatian Green Energy Cooperative (ZEZ) wanted to encourage Križevic citizens to produce solar energy together with them. They wanted to encourage citizens to invest in projects that have a positive impact on society and the environment. In order to reduce dependence on energy or energy imports, they aim to continue with the goal of keeping energy in the hands of citizens.

Druifkracht

Druifkracht consists of two entities. It is a citizens' cooperative (the cvso) and a non-profit association (the vzw). The directors of both legal entities are unpaid. They don't do it for the money, but because we, like the other cooperative members and volunteers, have an ideal: taking the energy transition into our own hands.

ERE43

In 2001, ERE43 started as an information and sensibilization organization, and conducted advocacy activities with the municipalities. In 2007, after government institutions took over the task of providing information, it became a consultancy to collectivities, individuals, and professionals. In 2008, they started providing turnkey biomass installations (boiler + storage silos) for municipality public buildings under the program ‘Modul’R. In 2010 they constructed a warehouse for the treatment, storage and distribution of wood for Modul’R installations. The warehouse also has rooftop solar panels. In 2013 they created a subsidiary called Meteor and in 2016 they launched a solar project.

A 100% renewable electricity supply cooperative (solar, hydraulic, wind and biomass) originating in Navarra.

Ecooo

Ecooo is a non - profit company founded in 2005 and focused on all kinds of projects that activate citizens in favor of a new energy model , clean , sustainable and in the hands of people .

Ecopower

Ecopower is a Belgian cooperative founded in 1991, financing renewable energy projects in Flanders.

ElektrizitätsWerke Schönau (EWS), a community-owned energy cooperative, was founded through extensive community engagement and mobilization over many years.

EnerGent

EnerGent is a cooperative society that unites citizens in their pursuit of a sustainable and climate-neutral society. The cooperative attracts the necessary financial resources for this. Money from partners is invested in renewable energy projects, the realization of energy savings and the provision of energy services.

Energia Positiva

Energia Positiva is a cooperative of people (Members) who share ownership of renewable energy production plants , becoming in turn the owners of their own freely chosen "virtual" plant .

Hackney Energy

Hackney Energy is a local energy and climate change advocacy group that aims to create renewable energy and low-carbon projects that benefit the Hackney community. Their first and main project is Banister House Solar (BHS) a Community Energy Enterprise based in the Borough of Hackney, north-east of London, and the UK’s largest community energy project on social housing.

Ketelhuis WG is located in the Amsterdam neighbourhood Wilhelmina Gasthuis (WG). WG covers approximately 16 hectares, and 2500 living / working units and studios. In total, it houses 25 buildings dating from 3 different centuries.

We are a large group of committed citizens from Mechelen and the surrounding area. Our goal: to build a climate neutral and sustainable society in and around Mechelen.

Middelgrunden

The Middelgrunden wind project was the world's first part-community-owned offshore wind farm, and one of the largest offshore projects in the world at the time of construction. The original idea of building a high-profile windfarm, visible from Copenhagen, was first shared publicly by a group of experts and wind enthusiasts in 1993. Final construction began in 2000 and the farm came online in 2001 and still remains operational 20 years later.

Nosse Moulin

Nørrekær Enges Vindmølleforening (Wind Turbine Cooperative) is a wind energy cooperative with around 1,000 members and 17 associations in the local area in and around Nørrekær Enge in North Jutland, Denmark. It was founded in August 2016 in response to Vattenfall's application to the municipalities of Aalborg and Vesthimmerland for permission to erect wind turbines in Nørrekær Enge. Vattenfall is a Swedish company and one of Europe’s largest producers and retailers of electricity and heat with main markets in Sweden, Germany, the Netherlands, Denmark, and the UK.

The legal basis for the functioning of the Konecki Energy Cluster is the Act of February 20, 2015, on renewable energy sources. A coordinator represents the energy cluster. The mission of the Cluster is to improve the condition of the environment in the area of the City and Commune of Konskie, including air quality, improve energy security and strengthen the local economy by optimising the use of locally available energy resources, including renewable energy sources, and other proefficiency measures.
