The Friends of Ashenground and Bolnore Woods are volunteers who care for a small area of ancient woodland on the western side of Haywards Heath. It lies to the south of an ancient bridleway that runs from Ashenground Road to Bolnore village. The woods include Ashenground Wood, Pierce’s Wood, Catts Wood and Bolnore Wood and have been classified as an LNR (Local nature Reserve) a unique and rare ancient woodland habitat, for more info please see: https://www.foabw.uk/

All 36 West Sussex libraries offer a warm welcome to all visitors. Haywards Heath Library also has welcoming, very friendly staff and volunteers who are able to advise on many topics, such as energy saving, benefits guidance, warm spaces and job seeking. Children can enjoy story time and at Haywards Heath there are games sessions and knit and natter crafting get togethers.  The library also has essential sanitary supplies in the entrance area, free for any who may be in need.

In July 2022, Haywards Heath Town Council were the first Town Council in Europe to endorse the Plant Based Treaty. The Treaty is an international initiative to tackle the key driver of the climate emergency - the emissions created by animal farming and the deforestation it causes. Haywards Heath Town Council wants to "promote a shift to more healthy sustainable plant-based diets and to actively reverse damage done to planetary functions, ecosystems services and biodiversity." The Plant based Treaty has been backed by 17 municipal governments worldwide, including Boynton Beach in Florida and Rosario in Argentina. Further information on The Plant based Treaty:
