This large expanse of public space is the least attractive place to walk through or sit in the town centre.  It should be an attractive space with shelter, seating, bike parking and attractive planting.  It is a depressing location in need of a complete re-design.

Coming down from Kirk Street to Castle Gardens the surface is so rough and damaged that it makes me feel nervous and I am fit and healthy.  For anyone with small children or with any mobility or vision problems, it would be treacherous.  Add wet autumn leaves or frost and it is to be avoided.  However, it is a direct route for children and young people coming from Dunoon Primary School and nursery to get to the park area in Castle Gardens.
