Where?

Garnethill Park is a beautifully-landscaped, partially-terraced public park in Glasgow City Centre's Garnethill area. Opened in 1991, the park has a large play area with wooden play equipment, small waterfalls running over rocks, low-bench seating for relaxing chats, & grassy areas with brick/cobblestone paths in between (please refer to accessibility note below). One of the park's beautiful features is its unusual lighting, made of square metal light-boxes created in a style similar to the architecture of Charles Rennie Mackintosh (a famous Scottish architect whose work can be found throughout Glasgow).

From the Glasgow Open House Arts : "A sculpture project is underway to mark Garnethill's designation as Scotland's first Quiet Urban Area - a group of socially distanced seats based on a triskeles & incorporating elements inspired by a particular Glasgow Coat of Arms. A banner is in place containing information about the work, & markers will show the location & ground pattern of the work."

Exciting!

*Accessibility note - though the pathways through the grassy areas of the park are brick & not true cobblestone, there are spaces between the bricks that may prove inaccessible to some people with mobility impairments, &/or users of wheeled supports such as wheelchairs or walkers, unless these supports are equipped with hefty, all-terrain wheels. Please refer to photo.
