The Arnisdale & Loch Hourn Community Association provides a resource for our very remote community in Arnisdale and on the North shores of Knoydart. We run the village hall in Anisdale and supporting action groups to support the sustainability of this crofting township. It is an hour's drive to the nearest town and two hours to anywhere with amenities.
We provide access to arts, education and social activities to alleviate social exclusion and reduce the need for travel. We are committed to the protection of our stunning coastal rural location and its wildlife. We are active in hosting education and research activities on protecting our sealife. We engage in regular beach cleans, ragwort clearing etc, all which relate to climate change.
The community has a newly planted native woodland. We support local produce and share home grown vegetables & home produced lamb, we have shared equipment (community log spitter, rotavator, cameras, spinning wheels etc).
We aim to protect our community by ensuring it remains a sustainable place to live and work, protect us as much as possible from the cost of living and enhance self sufficiency and community resilience.
