The aim of the Dunbeath & District Centre (D&DC) is to provide a Community Health & Wellbeing Hub, which delivers flexible and community-based services, promotes community cohesion, social integration, healthy living and lifelong learning, helping to reduce Service Users isolation and dependency on statutory services. The approach used to achieve the aim of the D&DC is intergenerational by providing a mixed offering of social activities which appeal to all generations, all supporting Users in the South East of Caithness.
D&DC intends that the standard of the established service model is raised to provide a much-needed safety net for vulnerable people, thereby reducing or delaying the need for statutory service intervention.
Known as the ‘Jigsaw Project’, this idea is born out of need – D&DC’s vision is an ambitious new build 21st century Health & Wellbeing Hub which fits into various strategic plans including - the NHSH Redesign of Health Care in Caithness; Central Government; Highland Council. D&DC holds NHSH Assured Status and is already considered a Centre of excellence by many.
The new Health & Wellbeing Hub will enable the existing facilities at 7 Neil Gunn Road to be relocated in their entirety. The existing premises provide facilities for the local community but is currently limited in the number of people it can accommodate. The new hub has been designed with the aim of providing larger and more flexible floor space which can be altered to accommodate different need at different times during the lifespan of this modern efficient building.
