Where?

Example: In the early days of Green Map, there was an interested Kenyan that did not create a Green Map, but he helped us understand how much harder it would be to make maps where there were few resources. In the era of the 'world wide wait' it was easy to mail a disk with the icon font, and some graphics, but could they be used locally everywhere?

Why a font?  Images were hard to manage in the early days. Almost every application available in 1996 would accept fonts, and we chose this "lowest common denominator" solution.

We also created icon sticker sheets to help level the playing field since it was not possible to add the Green Map Icons font to the shared computer at an Internet Cafe. We minimized the use of black toner on our re-printable guides, and did other things to minimize the digital divide. Eventually, we could provide CD-Roms, flash drives, etc. that helped projects move forward all over the world.
