Share a story of how you have experienced weather and/or climate at this place
I live in Inverness and have experience many weather events and climatic changes over the years including:
The extremely cold winter of 2022/23 - lots of snow and ice with temperatures dropping below minus 5 degrees. This caused dangerous road conditions.
The heatwave in July 2022 - one of my friends works at Raigmore and said there was an increase in admissions relating to heat stress.
Intense rainfall - Tesco and the cinema flooded after a period of heavy rainfall in August 2022.
Storms - more stormy weather which damages buildings and trees in parks like Whin Park.
Have you observed the weather, climate, or natural environment at this place changing over time?
Increased variability in weather periods of extreme heat and drought and then record rainfall and flooding. In Inverness it definitely seems more rainy
Have you done anything to prepare for or address climate and weather changes at this place?
I live in rented accomodation so there is very little I can do to improve the resilience of my building. Within the house I have lots of plants which I'm told helps cool your property. I do not own a car currently but when I did I avoided driving when there was bad weather.
