Castle Douglas Development Forum is a Scottish Incorporated Charitable Trust and the Castle Douglas Anchor and Resilience Organisation. We believe in improving the sustainability of the town and surrounds health, wealth and wellbeing so that everyone can thrive, grow, and innovate. Our volunteers help to run the community-owned Heart of Galloway Visitor Centre, the Castle Douglas Town Charity Shop, and the Stepping Stones Community Larder and food bank. We created a Playpark for All and a Changing Places toilet in Lochside park. We are now investing in an ambitious project to convert the old outdoor activity centre in Lochside park into an exemplar, sustainably constructed, Crannog: a place for everyone to gather, learn and thrive.

Darkwood Crew is a group of volunteers who have a single defining aim of helping Ferguslie flourish. Adopting a variety of community development-based approaches the group aims to make the otherwise abstract concept of climate change relevant to local needs with a broader view of meeting those needs in a locally-led, dignified and sustainable way. Our work focuses on 5 key areas including food insecurity, fuel poverty, isolation & loneliness, mental health positivity, and the local environment.

Clean Heat Edinburgh Forum (CHEF) is a loose unconstituted group comprising interested community members, academics and professionals working in the low carbon heat space. We believe this mix of people enables us to be mutually complementary and relatively independent. It works as an open weekly forum to share news and insights and to progress the agenda of decarbonising Edinburgh. Its current main focus is District Heating Networks. Individuals attend the meeting as and when they can/feel moved to - either in their own time or on their company's or institution’s time.

Fallin Community Voice is establishing its own community garden space for our local residents. A place for people to grow, socialise, volunteer and be part of our wonderful community. Working in collaboration with local & national partners, we are developing a community garden which will consist of a resilient, regenerative permaculture garden and edible forest that thrives in our increasingly unpredictable climate to provide food for us and habitats for nature. It will improve local biodiversity, create new green jobs and up-skill residents in the fields of climate action, nature restoration, food security and community resilience. Our project will bring people together and create a new, better quality, wheelchair accessible natural space, regenerating a natural environment that has been replaced by ex-mining derelict land. This space will include a core central food production hub and an educational area, with a range of activities and programmes designed in partnership with residents and other stakeholders, raising awareness of “nature and climate” issues and inspiring opportunities to address other climate and nature friendly priorities in and around the community.

Climate Café Aberfeldy was started in 2018. Some meetings are very practical, others less so, and all members are active in the local community.

The 360 Centre is a community Vision for a Climate Change Centre of national significance on the site of the old Cockenzie power station. The 360 Vision captures suggestions and ideas on how we might turn the tide on climate change through education, training, employment, energy, tourism, art and more. We believe that we must all have it in our power to address and mitigate the impact of climate change - the greatest threat to mankind and often too difficult to contemplate.

Coigach Community Development Company's aim is for Coigach, in the remote, rural northwest, to be a thriving, resilient and inclusive community in which to live, work and grow. We have two community sources of funds from green energy production, from our 500kW wind turbine and from a profit-share in the 500kW Achvraie Burn hydro-electric scheme. The profits from these two schemes are gift aided to CCDC enabling us to undertake projects, provide money for our Community Fund grants available to local groups and individuals living in the area, and employ a Managing Director and two Development Officers.
