We plant and maintain 50 planters, two small orchards, two herb areas and two gardens in the centre of Dundee growing a substantial amount from seed. Because of climate change we aim to build on our understanding of plants and gardening increasing environmental resilience, sustainability, biodiversity (especially pollinators) and encourage the public to join us on our journey. We pass on information via our notice board, Facebook page, Instagram, Twitter, notices in our gardens and by holding events. We work closely with Dundee City Council, local shops and businesses, Dundee Community Garden Network and Dundee Changemakers hub.

Fallin Community Voice is establishing its own community garden space for our local residents. A place for people to grow, socialise, volunteer and be part of our wonderful community. Working in collaboration with local & national partners, we are developing a community garden which will consist of a resilient, regenerative permaculture garden and edible forest that thrives in our increasingly unpredictable climate to provide food for us and habitats for nature. It will improve local biodiversity, create new green jobs and up-skill residents in the fields of climate action, nature restoration, food security and community resilience. Our project will bring people together and create a new, better quality, wheelchair accessible natural space, regenerating a natural environment that has been replaced by ex-mining derelict land. This space will include a core central food production hub and an educational area, with a range of activities and programmes designed in partnership with residents and other stakeholders, raising awareness of “nature and climate” issues and inspiring opportunities to address other climate and nature friendly priorities in and around the community.

Creation Mill is a Community Interest Company whose aim is to create a buzz around the local textiles industry by inspiring the next generation to get involved and learn new skills. As well as our work with young people, those experiencing unemployment and career changers, we also provide regular workshops, social groups and a Textile and Haberdashery Scrap Store. We work hard to protect and promote the textiles history of Langholm whilst encouraging those in our crafting community to waste less and get involved with the circular economy movement.

Edinburgh Tool Library

Edinburgh Tool Library is the UK’s first tool library, promoting sharing as a way of reducing our environmental impact. We lend our members tools for DIY, gardening, decorating, and machine repair, so tool ownership is not a requirement of making. Not only does this collaborative approach make sense environmentally, it also helps our members financially.
