The overall mission of the organisation is to promote better health in the LGBTQ+ community, with a particular focus on the health of women and non binary people.

The UVic Coastal Climate Solutions Leaders (CCSL) program offers an immersive learning experience for graduate students seeking to advance climate solutions. Bridging across the sciences, engineering, social sciences, business, and law, this program delivers enriched interdisciplinary and inter-sectoral training to prepare the next generation of leaders with the knowledge, experience, and skills needed to rise to the challenge of climate change. We are always looking to partner with Vicotira organizations to deliver novel, community-engaged training opportunitites.

The UVic Map Shop is a community-campus initiative dedicated to collaborative place-based learning and mapping. We partner with community organizations to conduct geographic research and mapping.

Category Is Books is a Glasgow's local, independent, queer/LGBTQIA+ bookshop in the city's Southside. Everyone welcome (they're emphatic about that)! Founded & run by a couple, Category Is "hope[s] to create a space for the LGBTQIA+ community to learn about, be inspired by & share in [their] love of queer books, art, history, activism, writing & storytelling."

Housed in a Grade-B listed building that includes the most complete functioning Victorian theatre machinery, & is the second-oldest operational theatre, in the UK (more info at the Building History link below!), the building itself was opened in 1878.

Wing Hong Elderly Group (also known as Wing Hong Centre / Wing Hong Chinese Elderly Centre) is a charity organisation, a group established with the aim of enhancing the quality of life for the Chinese elderly based in the Glasgow area & promoting equal opportunities for Chinese elders in accessing social, health, welfare, & housing services.

Charity shop whose proceeds benefit the Oxfam organisation, offering a wide variety of secondhand books. From fiction to non-fiction to vintage books, Oxfam bookshops are famous for their amazing finds!

The word 'tenement' means vastly different things in different places in the world - & this is Glasgow's / Scotland's version! The Tenement House is an important glimpse into early-20th-century Glasgow, a museum that allows us to get a better understanding of Scottish life today, by taking a moment to ponder the everyday of the past.

Bike for Good is a cycling charity & social enterprise with two locations in Glasgow - one in Glasgow's South Side just off Victoria Road, & the other in Glasgow's West End on Haugh Road.

Founded in 1451, University of Glasgow is the fourth-oldest in the UK & the second-oldest in Scotland, with more (architecturally) 'listed' buildings than any other university in the UK. Originally located in the High Street in Glasgow City Centre, UofG was relocated in 1870 to its current location in Glasgow's West End. At that time, the West End consisted of countryside, farms, & country-houses of Glasgow's most wealthy citizens, & adding UofG to the area was a significant part of the city's expansion, by adding the academic elite to the location's social landscape which expanded the horizon for those who might have otherwise remained in City Centre.

Located on Glasgow's Southside near Strathbungo Cross, Bawn is an 'Ethical Textile Atelier', offering textiles by the metre (or 1/2 metre!), haberdashery goods & supplies (including clothing patterns with a contemporary emphasis), books on sewing / textiles / fibre art, fabric remnants (avoiding waste that's common in the textiles industry), & in-shop events.

Located in Glasgow's Merchant City area, Mono is a unique & versatile space to eat, drink, & discover new music. Since its opening in 2002, Mono has developed a reputation for good vegan food & good music, & has hosted not only some of the most exciting bands around, both local & international, but also exhibitions, book readings, art performances, & workshops.

Dear Green (a reference to Glasgow, which is often referred to as the 'Dear Green Place' ['glas' means 'green' / 'grey-green' in Scottish Gaelic]) is a local coffee roasters who roast specialty coffee with passion, ethics, & good vibes at the centre of all they do.

Part of Unity Enterprise organisation, Spoon Cafés are social-enterprise-run sit-in / take-away cafés offering external catering services & space hire for public & private events.

The UVic Map Shop is a community-campus initiative dedicated to collaborative place-based learning and mapping. Operated by the Department of Geography, the Map Shop's mission is to facilitate processes for community engagement, student learning, globally-relevant research, and sustainable community planning through participatory community mapping. This is achieved through engaging students, community members, Indigenous partners, and other participants both locally and globally in classroom-based and field-based courses, workshops, map-making, internship opportunities, scholarly research, publications, summits, and conference participation.

The Flint water crisis is so bad, the "Michigan Civil Rights Commission, a state-established body, concluded that the poor governmental response to the Flint crisis was a 'result of systemic racism'," writes NRDC. This is an environmental justice issue.  Settlement was reached in 2020 - but issues persist.
